On 10th October, in the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities, Schuman Associates organised a workshop with Philips on the topic ¨Improving EU citizens’ lives through meaningful innovation in healthcare¨ . The objective was to raise awareness among EU decision makers about current challenges in using structural and investment funds by private large companies, and about the potential benefits of public-private partnerships for the healthcare sector was among our main objectives.

The key speech was given by Mr Reinier Schlatmann, General Director in Philips for CEE. Mr Michal BONI, Member of the European Parliament honoured us with his views on the future of healthcare and innovation. A presentation of future initiatives on this area were also delivered by Mr Arnaud SENN, from DG CNECT at the European Commission. Professor Marek Gzik, from the Silesia University of Technology in Poland illustrated us about how far you can go with ESIF investments and Mr Stecy Yghemonos, Executive Director at Eurocarers provided us with the human factor while the moderator, Mrs Ruth Estrada, from Schuman Associates reminded the public that the debate on a new Multi-annual Financial Framework is kicking off. Healthcare should be one of the key issues if we want to go forwards in creating better well-being for European citizens.
