Schuman Associates organised a Panel discussion on Packaged Retail Investment Products (PRIPS) and Key Information Documents (KIDs) hosted by MEP Syed Kamall.

On the 23rdApril 2013, Schuman Associates and the Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers, APCIMS organised this discussion on the affect that PRIPS could have on the functioning of the European financialmarkets. MEP Syed Kamall led and moderated this open discussion on the issues, acknowledging consensus on need for better protection of investors & more transparency. Apcims called into question the need to regulate small investors of stocks, shares and bonds. PRIPS is  intended for more complex investment structures. They emphasised 2 key outcomes for SMEs (i) less choice for consumer, and (ii) great cost for consumer. MEP Kamall suggested that if the net result of PRIPs in its current form means additional cost to investors and has potential to stop the market, then we don’t want that.
