European Development Days 2017- get involved!
The European Development Days (EDD) are Europe’s leading forum on development and international cooperation. Organised by the European Commission, the forum brings the development community together to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
The European Commission has announced the themes of 2017 edition, which will take place in Brussels on 7-8 June 2017.
The overarching theme will be ‘Investing in Development’. Building on the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and on the European Commission's proposal for a new European Consensus for Development, among the key issues that the Forum will address figure: achieving an inclusive and sustainable growth, create decent jobs, the full engagement of the private sector both as an economic and responsible actor in development; women and youth empowerment.
3 major themes:
- Investing in People in Planet (key drivers for the topic – migration, mobility, climate action, sustainable energy, demography )
- Investing in Prosperity (growth and job creating, investment and digitalization - topics, role of the private sectors, EU Africa Business Forum)
- Investing in Peace and Partnership (partnership with CSO, local authorities, topics of fragility and resilience. the role of the private sector )
