Winning Business in Africa

IBEC1

On 9 June 2015, Schuman Associates presented the Winning Business in Africa (WBIA) web portal at the IBEC premises in Dublin. The event was attended by a wide range of Irish enterprises. The WBIA is a joint initiative between the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, IBEC and Schuman Associates.

The Winning Business in Africa project enables companies to participate in European Development Fund (EDF) projects in Africa. The web portal provides information on the opportunities available. Accompanying advice and networking opportunities will allow Irish companies to form clusters and get involved in projects. The EDF is the EU's main instrument for providing development aid to African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. The EDF funds cooperation activities in the fields of economic development, social and human development as well as regional cooperation and integration. The total financial resources of the 11th EDF amount to €30.5 billion for the period 2014-2020. An awareness and understanding of where funding is likely to emerge and how it will be allocated are vital to tendering for projects. The Winning Business in Africa project seeks to increase Irish companies’ awareness of the EDF opportunities available. The added services of enhanced analysis and related training will increase companies’ participation in the tendering process.
