Delivering Europe’s transformation: ‘News from our projects’

We are proud to inaugurate “News from our projects”, a dedicated news stream sharing updates, insights, and opportunities to engage with the EU-funded projects we implement under our Project Implementation practice. Told in the voices of the projects themselves, this series highlights how our work supports Europe’s green and digital transitions.

Since the launch of our Project Implementation practice in 2017, Schuman Associates’ EU-funded project portfolio has grown to encompass 12 timely and impactful initiatives in the fields of digital transformation, green transition, and skills and education. Aligned with our focal themes, this achievement reflects the trust of the European Commission, the confidence of our partners, the strength of our bid management and consortium building, and the excellence of our project implementation.

A timely launch as Europe accelerates its Twin Transitions

The launch of this new section comes at a pivotal juncture. As 2025 unfolds, the EU enters a critical phase in delivering on its Digital Decade targets, scaling up deployment of 5G, cloud, and AI infrastructures, and advancing the European Green Deal’s climate and industrial goals. It is also a key moment for the European Skills Agenda, with new momentum behind reskilling initiatives essential to ensuring that Europe’s workforce is ready for the green and digital future.

Across this policy landscape, Schuman Associates’ project implementation work stands at the convergence of these priorities, translating high-level strategies into practical, people-focused impact. From accelerating digital infrastructure and cloud innovation to equipping SMEs and workers with future-proof skills, each project plays a distinct role in delivering on the EU’s ambitions for resilience, competitiveness, and inclusiveness.

Our EU-funded project portfolio (2025)

These 12 EU-funded initiatives span the fields of digital transformation, sustainability, and skills development, and are implemented by Schuman Associates in partnership with leading stakeholders across Europe:

• European Broadband Competence Offices Network – Enhancing broadband deployment capacity in EU Member States and regions through knowledge-sharing and stakeholder support.

• 5G for Smart Communities Support Platform – Supporting the rollout of 5G-enabled solutions in public services, from transport and health to education and energy.

• 5G Observatory – Monitoring progress on 5G deployment across the EU, informing policy and investment decisions.

• Cloud Interoperability FWC – Facilitating cross-border cloud infrastructure compatibility for public sector and industrial use.

• CloudCamp4SMEs – Empowering small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt cloud solutions through practical guidance and training.

• Code4Europe – Promoting digital literacy and coding skills among youth and underrepresented groups across Europe.

• Digital4Business – Boosting SME competitiveness by supporting uptake of digital technologies and tools.

• Digital4Security – Strengthening cybersecurity capacities in SMEs and public administrations through targeted digital upskilling.

• Skills4Retail – Equipping retail sector workers with green and digital skills to meet evolving labour market demands.

• GreenSkills4Hydrogen – Building the talent pipeline for the emerging hydrogen economy through vocational and educational training.

• RESkill4NetZero – Supporting reskilling initiatives for workers transitioning into green energy and climate-neutral industries.

• GreenShift – Enabling SMEs to integrate sustainability into their operations through tailored skills programmes and resources.
