The future of the European Union’s fight against money laundering
On 4th April, Schuman Associates, which acts as a secretariat of AME – Anti Money Laundering Europe, organised a lunch seminar at the European Parliament on the topic of the future of the European Union's fight against money laundering.
Representatives from the public and private sector debated on how to further strengthen the EU legislative framework and empower relevant stakeholders in the area of anti-money laundering.
The workshop was hosted by MEP Luděk Niedermayer, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and member of the Special Committee on financial crimes, tax evasion and tax avoidance (TAX3). Other speakers included Ms Despina Vassiliadou from DG JUST of the European Commission, Mr Philippe de Koster from the Belgian FIU and Mr Peter McNamee from the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe.
