Code4Europe builds momentum ahead of EU Code Week 2026
With EU Code Week 2026 starting on 10 October, the Code4Europe community is preparing for another two weeks of activities bringing coding, computational thinking and digital skills to people across Europe.
For Schuman Associates, this year's campaign follows an important moment for the project. At the end of September, Code4Europe partners and members of the EU Code Week community came together in Brussels for the project's final Consortium and Community Meeting under the current project.
During the Community Meeting, Schuman Associates' Sabrina Di Ruggiero presented the achievements of Code4Europe and its community, highlighting the contribution of the educators, Ambassadors, Leading Teachers, organisations and volunteers who bring EU Code Week to life across Europe.
Since the start of Code4Europe in July 2024, EU Code Week has reached more than 20 million young people through activities promoting coding and computational thinking. Behind this figure is a grassroots community turning a European initiative into opportunities for young people to develop digital skills in their schools and local communities.
EU Code Week 2026: get involved
From 10 to 25 October, EU Code Week 2026 will once again invite educators, schools, organisations and digital enthusiasts to organise activities and introduce more people to coding and digital skills. From classroom coding sessions and workshops to hackathons, robotics activities and community events, each activity offers an opportunity to learn, collaborate and connect with a wider community.
As one Italian teacher reflected in the 2026 EU Code Week survey:
"Code Week makes participants feel part of a meaningful global movement, inspiring them to team up and tackle small challenges together."
Everyone organising a coding or digital skills activity is encouraged to add it to the EU Code Week map, connecting their initiative with activities taking place across Europe.
To make the registration process easier, Schuman Associates has prepared a practical guide to EU Code Week activity tags, explaining the different categories available and how to select the tags that best represent each activity.
Planning to take part this October?
Register your activity on the EU Code Week map and consult the EU Code Week activity tags guide when adding your activity.
'CodeWeek: the future is now'
EU Code Week will also provide an opportunity to look at what comes next for digital skills and education in Europe.
On 14 October, 'CodeWeek: the future is now' will take place in Brussels, bringing together representatives from education, industry, policy and the digital skills community.
Schuman Associates will contribute to the event, with Sabrina Di Ruggiero moderating a Code4Europe panel, bringing together experiences and perspectives from across the project.
The discussion will provide an opportunity to reflect on the approaches developed through Code4Europe and consider how cooperation between education, industry and the wider digital skills community can continue supporting digital skills development across Europe.
EU Code Week 2026 takes place from 10 to 25 October. Find an activity near you, organise your own and join the community bringing coding and digital skills to people across Europe.
