A year ago, Schuman Associates was selected to support the bid writing of a FET Flagship project on EU Cultural Heritage. This is one of those projects that only comes once in a decade. If you work with the H2020 programme, you will know that these are very big projects with expected large scale social and economic impacts and, of course, high competition. The key challenge is to build a solid business case around a visionary idea, leading to a coherent and ambitious research and innovation agenda for the EU and its Member states for the next 10 years.
Within this year´s EU Regions Week , the Regional Development Agency Bucharest-Ilfov organized a workshop on Innovative technologies and partnerships in developing regions, in partnership with COCIR and our client Philips. The event, chaired by MEP Jan Olbrycht (EPP, PL) presented the benefits of public-private partnerships supported by EU Funds.

The Western Balkans London Summit held as part of the Berlin process on 9-10 July 2018, reaffirmed the European future of Western Balkans and highlighted EU’s commitment to advance cooperation with the region. At the summit, the EU launched a new instrument, the Western Balkans Guarantee, under the Western Balkans Investments Framework. This new instrument will attract and facilitate private investments in a broad range of sectors, such as start-ups and SMEs, climate finance and infrastructure investments, as well as digital and social sectors. The EU has committed 150 MEUR for 2019-2020 to support the Western Balkans Guarantee which aims to leverage investments up to 1 BEUR.
The European Commission adopted a decision to update the Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020. The revision concerns different parts of the Work Programme for 2019 (topics, dates, budget)that have been updated.

Italy is one of the top recipients of EU funds just behind Poland and Romania.
Through 75 national and regional programmes, Italy has been allocated EUR 42.77 billion from European Structural and Investment Funds over the period 2014-2020. With a national contribution of EUR 30.96 billion, Italy has a total budget of EUR 73.73 billion to be invested in various areas, from jobs and growth to boosting research and innovation as well as protecting the environment and increasing labour market participation.
